Our values

Our circular approach

Today one third of the food produced for human consumption is wasted or lost before reaching our tables, amounting to about 1.3 billion tonnes per year, costing the global economy close to 940 billion USD each year. Cutting global food waste in half by 2030 is one of the UN’s top priorities. In fact, it’s one of the organisation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Adopting a circular economy business model means restoring or recycling the resources used, prolonging their value and minimising waste through a better design of materials, products and systems.
JRS Silvateam has always been embracing this philosophy. In the case of pectin, we use as raw material citrus peels, leftovers from the fruit juice and essential oil production, adding value to a byproduct which should otherwise be disposed of. More recently, the same approach has been adopted with partially depectinised citrus peels, by turning them into a valuable functional dietary fiber. A perfect example of circular economy: what was previously considered a byproduct is now a resource that can be reintroduced and reused within the production cycle.

Research & Development

Being innovators has always been at the forefront for JRS Silvateam. Recently, large and targeted investments in research and development have enabled our applications and development centre in Bergamo (Italy) to go deeper into the properties of the multiple hydrocolloids within our product portfolio. Our team of skilled foodies is continually striving to discover new benefits, new applications and interactions between our formulations and the other ingredients of the final food recipes. We are prioritising on creating clean label prototypes and food minus” products, emphasising low sugar and low fat alternatives.
Our state-of-the-art labs and pilot plants provide customers with top-tier technical support, enabling the refinement of their products to satisfy consumer needs. Our goal is to deliver our clientele with customised, eco-conscious solutions, empowering them to surmount daily obstacles and pave the way for brighter future opportunities.

Governance

Our corporate governance system is oriented towards the creation of shareholder value in the medium to long term, with the awareness of the social relevance of our activities and the need to adequately consider all the interests involved.

Code of Ethics

The Silvateam Group’s Code of Ethics reflects the commitment of the owners and the Board of Directors to provide conduct guidelines to be followed, hence, principles to follow in carrying out the activities, and to help recognise and address ethical issues

“PECTIN 2015”: Production Investment Project

In accordance with the Industrial Development Agreement under former Article 9
of the Italian Ministry of Economic Development Decree dated December 9, 2014,
which falls within the sector of processing and marketing agricultural products,
the project promoted by JRS Silvateam aims to expand the pectin production
capacity of its facility, located in Rende – southern Italy, and to optimise the existing
operations. Pectin is a versatile, plant-based ingredient recognised globally by
consumers as label-friendly and a source of soluble dietary fiber, widely used in
the industry for its gelling, stabilising and thickening properties.

Project No. CDS000478 – Unique project code (CUP): C22B15000010009
